I just got a Palm Treo 650 (Cingular) for work. I think it's a great idea, and so far it is user friendly except... it won't wake up from sleep after sitting for a while. I have to do a battery reboot to get it going. During the time it is "asleep", it must be in REM sleep because phone calls get sent directly to voice mail. I've looked around the internet and this seems to be a fairly common issue. Has anyone here had this problem? Has anyone figured out how to make it stop? I rely on the phone to stay in touch with staff and if I am missing calls, it is not a good thing. Thanks

I believe that Cingular is a GSM provider. I'm not familiar with the GSM version of the Treo 650. I had a CDMA Treo 650 for a while and didn't have any problems like that with it. The best place I've found for Treo information is http://www.treocentral.com . I would look around there for an answer and if you don't find anything ask.

Thanks Steve. I'm not sure what the difference is between the two, but I'll check out the link you provided. To me, it's just magic!

I did a search over there for you and I didn't find anything on that problem. My guess is that you have a defective phone. Next time you let it sit for a while turn it on and go to the phone app and see if it says the phone is off. A Treo is always "on" - although it's in a "sleep" state - but you can turn the radio off. If the radio is off calls would go straight to voice mail as you said. To turn the radio on or off you press and hold the power button.

The difference between GSM and CDMA is the type of signal that the phone understands. GSM is used more around the world but CDMA is more popular here in the states. The software for the two different versions of the phone are quite a bit different.

Yeah what Steve said. Just a guess, it sounds like a screwey battery.

My Treo 700 needs a reboot about every 3 weeks, other than that it is OK.
