Decent turnout in Houston & images

RMTDR Get-Together Saturday Oct. 27

First of all, any meeting with any of you guys, always is a blast. This Diesel Event was a Great and something you need to do next year, killer taco's, beer in the pits(if you are not a driver) and some of the sharpest big rigs I have ever seen.

I think we had 11 Dodges show up.

HVAC had a hard time hooking up his monster twin turbo and so did I. He went 110 in the quarter and finally at half track hooking up enough for full throttle. :D

He got a 4 foot trophy for for the long distance award. :D

High Voltage won a trophy for cleanest truck, congrats to both of you guys. :D

I might have photos up tonight but for sure in the morning.

We all had fun, but the track was in little bumpy and unhooked up. http://community.webshots.com/user/garyclever

The air was terrible and the realitve altitude was 5855 ft, basically we were racing in DENVER.

More to come later, I am POOOPED:( :D

Again, I would like to say again it was a BLAST.

My best ET was 14. 04 with a 1. 91 60ft time, but on that run I thought I would lift for a half a second to help the OD shift and cost myself a 13 second run GGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrrrrrr.

Still had a great time and remember the conditions were terrible and we were racing at nearly 6000 ft.

Can't get the link to work. Was this with slicks??? I can't remember if you told me yes or no... ... What was your speed???? If you bring the overdrive shift down to 3100rpm then you will gain 1/10th of a second on your time according to Bill..... but you have to sacrifice line pressure to do so... I figure I can live without it..... until a "big" race comes up.

You almost got me on 60ft... . my best is 1. 88 :D

Good job regardless... ... ... .

I wanna see some more results..... whats the hold up here? :D

Sorry, this link works, I hope

http://community.webshots.com/user/garyclever

Actually it was shifting at 3450:mad:

No slicks yet but we are working on it.

The 14. 04 @ 96. 64mph. 1. 9 whatever 60 footer time. :)

Kat do you know the relative(density) altitude at your strip for your night ?;)

Palmdale is 3000 ft, with the correction factor of barimetric pressure, humidity and temp, the track was at 5855 ft. which is terrible air.

I have a guage that does the calculation at the touch of the button. http://www.altronicsinc.com/pages/performaire.html

Wow you got that 60ft time with no slicks... . I'm impressed. Thats great for 2 wheel drive.

The altitude of the track I ran was 991ft or something. I don't remember the exact temp and all that sorry :(

Whats your 1/8th mile time look like? (and speed) I can kick major butt in the 1/8th but then slow down for the whole 1/4 it seems (I am thinknig 4 wheel drive!) I run 8. 7 to 8. 9 76 to 78mph in the 1/8th mile... ...

Still amazed at that 60ft time... ... what did you launch at? My overdrive shifts at 3300rpm (i think thats what I saw).

Thanks for the pics... ... now wheres the MPEG's? Hehehehe

I'm gonna try to go back to the Track Nov 4th and the 18th. Before they close for the season.

Mpegs are coming, when you go to the track walk over to some that is serious and ask them the relative or density altitude, more maybe the track would know.

I lost 6lbs of boost because of the Denver conditions.

I am not happy with the 191 60ft, all the others were 2. 3 or worst, on the 191 60fter I had to pedal the truck twice way brfore the 60 fter mark.

On my last run, I took the interior kit out that I had in bed and went to 20 lbs in the rears and got some wheel hop going so when I get some sticky tires, wheel hop will be huge and then I need to work on the suspension.

It never stops.

Going to Carlsbad next weekend, 110 ft above sea level and relative altitude will be around 200-500 ft. I will see the 13's. I hope. http://carlsbadrags.tripod.com/carlsbadrags/id1.html

Yeah Baby!

I just made it home from the weekend desert manueaver:) Bit of a drive back to the bay area.

A big thanks to Gary for posting the pics! Kinda like a cerebral recall button you might say:D We had a great time and I want to say THANKS a million to all my buds that came to the event as well as my new buds that I met there. We had a terrific group of Ram pilots for this first ever "Diesel Delinquents in the Desert"

Now, how do I get all this rubber off my truck!!!

Does the "B" in BF Goodrich stand for bananna???

Diesel delinquents??

Delinquents? I resemble that! I had a blast watching you guys run. I wussed out and didn't run but after I saw all the fun you guy had, I will next time. The twins on HVAC's truck looked pretty wild, too bad the track was in such sad shape that he couldn't hook up.

Great job you guys!!

Sam

Rubber

Nowell, WD40 works great to get the rubber off, soad it in heavy a few times then wipe it off. It takes a few sprays but it will work, bug and tar remover works also.

Next time you go spray the fenders down with WD40, then all you have to do is wipe it off. It looks like I undercoated the insides of the rear fenders on my car lol, as well as the quarters behind them. I go to the track 2 times a week usualy and I quit giving a crap a few years ago lol

Judging by the big grins :D You guys had a good time. I'm sorry :( I had to leave early, I was planning on coming back later to sit down and talk to all of you but that didn't happen, Oh well there's always next year. All in all in was a good turn out compared to years past, it's just too bad there wasn't more participation from the other brands.

Were any of you able to stay over for Sunday?

Stck'n Jack,

All these photos were from This last saturday.

Glad everyone made it home safely.

If anyone want to meet me saturday at Carlsbad Drags, please email me.

Hutch where are the movies?????????? :D

Gary, when you get some freetime, could you post the contact info for that trick radiator top you had on your truck. I got to have one of those.

Sam

Traction???

I gotta have some slicks!!!

My poor driving skills are second only to my ability to give birth : D

I was leaving very late and not going to full throttle for seemingly an eternity.

I only did three runs, first time I forgot to click the fuel box on. Second time I didn't have any overdrive. Third time I had everything

working and did manage a good mile an hour at around 105 without propane. I still need to figure out my air cleaner config and then

add the propane.

I was down about one hundred horsepower without the LPG. I'll tell you one thing, thank heavens for horsepower! I was leaving on

the green and tip toeing off the line (trying not to spin the tires), so I had to drive around the dodge and the chevy I raced. The funny car

got me I have to confess : )

Just the day prior to the race I was busy reconfiguring one of the cold air pipes and trying to fix my clamps and hoses to keep them from

spitting off when I hammer the throttle. Well I'm happy to report that when I left the welding shop headed for Palmdale I stabbed the

throttle and saw 53 psi! No blown hoses either!!! At the track Saturday I was further pleased with the turbo performance. I hit 60 psi

on the last run! That was the only good run I had btw. I expect I'll be at 65 psi with the propane operable and that covers my best

scenario goal as far as peak boost goes. There isn't a (single) turbo out there that can run those numbers and last. With these twins I

am getting cooler air while only driving the turbos at a moderate pace and maintaining wonderful drivability to boot.

Time to address the suspension! : )

Ever raced anything on Slicks before?? It will be an expierience(sp?) the first time I am sure. After you grasp hold of what happened when you launch wait till it starts to walk around in those thin sidewalls the first time :). I am guessing you will need some kind of traction or ladder bar, or the axle will try and flip over

Did you ever check out the Caltracs I mentioned in a previous post?? Keep up the good work.

Clark
