Thanks,

Well,

I lived there. actually Pensacola, for a year about 15 years ago. The things that I remember is that there seemed to be two types of folks. The locals who in my opinion were good 'ole southern comfort country folks. Good people with extremely strong southern accents. You are practically in Georgia / Alabama. The other folks were a mix of tourists, snow birds and others from all over the place that have migrated there for what ever reason.

I liked the climate there as it was warm enough to enjoy but had more than 2 seasons like south florida has (South Fla has summer and fall, no winter or spring).

That is pretty much all I can remember. I am sure others can chime in.

Well, I was born there a little over 51 years ago. Dad was an AF weather observer and stationed there for a few months. Can't help you on the memories. (That could be a function of my age then ... ..... or my age now, for that matter. :-laf )

Back in the mid 80's I was stationed at Ft Benning GA, and would go to Panama City on little SCUBA diving trips. The people were real nice as far as I remember but I was generally pretty well plastered the whole time. Back then there were lots of small shacks and trailers that served up some of the best seafood I have ever had, but I am sure that with progress and the growth that has occured in the area that they are all gone by now.

We are from Florida and have done quite a bit of time on the gulf coast. Usually pretty good people, cheap to live in most areas but keep a hurricane kit handy. We had to run twice in about 4 years. Plenty of sun and nice white beaches. Great Mardis Gras in Mobile!
