My wife wants more giddy-up from her 98 12 valve with a (stock) 5 speed.

I have shimmed the fuel return regulator, slid the cam plate thingy forward, adjusted the star wheel to it's stop (or atleast till it wouldnt turn any more easily).

No kitty, no muff, K&N, went back to the light throttle return springs.

Any other minor adjustments I should make? (She LOVES this truck), but gets nervous when the cops turn their heads and watch (hear) her drive by :D

I'm new at this and would appreciate any advice.

BTW, I did the (homemade) KDP tab fix already and put synthetic Royal Purple GL-4 75W-90 in the transmission and Mobil 1 in the rear diff. The engine has Asmoil in it now and will be kept with synthetic oil in it.

Time to buy another camplate. Sliding the stock one risks this. Siding the plate all the way forward was the only mod done on this 5. 9 in a motorhome.

I would suggest giving Piers at Piers Diesel or Mark at TST. A lot of very good advice already, but they may be able to help decide what is really best according to the information you give. Just

;)

Sell that nasty old 12-valve to me - I'll take it off your hands for the right price - and get her a new(er) 24-valve that will take a box. ;)

191 Delivery Valves.... Makes all the world of difference!

Try it! Just watch the boost #'s... . anything over 40 is dangerous, as mine went to 49 and KABOOM!!!!!

I would give Peter at Southbend a call and up grade the Clutch before going any further, then get a boost and egt gauge, you didn't mention if you have one as of yet. For serious power for little money I would opt for the TST #10 Plate, TST AFC Sping kit, Boost elbow, 60lb Valve springs, 4K gov kit, and a 16cm housing, 4" turbo back exhaust, AFC Mega canon. And then tell her to be carefull :D :D :D

370s and a #11 plate and 4k GSK gave me 400 + HP. A #11 plate is a great place to start and prolly the most bang for the buck. TST says that this plate alone should work ok with a stock clutch

Thats all, just easier to put the pedal on the floor. My wife had trouble in work attire (high heals) with the heavy return springs.

Illflem, what caused the melted aluminum? What exactly does sliding the cam plate forward do? Could the melted aluminum be from excessive EGT's?

Time to get on the phone to the mentioned vendors.

TIA
