2nd Gen Non-Engine/Transmission parking brake cable bracket

Ok, the bracket on the parking brake cable under the cab that connects the single cable from the cab to the two cables that run to each wheel has completely rotted & broken in two. Parking brake does not exist now & pedal does nothing. A dealer item :{ or might a decent auto parts store stock something of this nature? Thanks for any input guys.....

If it's on your signature truck, probably not even available from dealer (too old), but worth a check anyway. Most likely you need to find a junk yard or watch for somone parting a truck of the same or similar year. Not something "most" auto parts stores will carry.

JM, yes, this is on my signature truck. I may check dealer but also the junkyard may be the way to go. It's a shame about these trucks. Engines last forever but the body falls apart around it. :-laf Thanks... ... ... Mike

Mike, guess I'm lucky in that respect. My 86 body was an Arizona body and you could still see the assembly line chalk/paint marks on it. Wish you the best of luck. If I can turn one up, will give you a note on here. Jim

I have one, BUT, I would not trust it. It has popped off on me several times. There used to be a thread here about modifying them to work properly.

"ctrl +" will enlarge the picture, "ctrl -" will decrease it to normal size.

He Mike # 14 may look like what I need. The bracket itself has broken in two. Gotta take a closer look again. Thanks for supplying this pic... very helpful... ..... Mike

It looks like that equalizer is part of the #14 assembly to me, if it wasn't dark and snowing up here I would crawl under my '97 and have a look.



I can't check availabilty beyond my local dealer, but if it is still in stock somewhere it would only be about $25. 00.
