My cables on my '96' 3500 are corroded and hang up when released. I only use them when I have to since I have to crawl under the truck on level ground and pull on them to stretch them out.

How difficult is it to change them? I'm sure everything is rusted up.

Thanks,

Gene

If your 96 is like my 98 they're not that difficult to replace in theory- in theory.

In PRACTICE they're probably so crudded up I might be ready to replace from the pedal clip back to the wheels. That way your not searching for a part at some inopportune time when say, the adjuster with the cable saddle breaks or just won't get unfrozen!! Don't ask me why I know…

DieselDoghouse thanks for the reply. Thats about what I thought. Everytime I try to fix something it always takes at least 3 times longer than I think it will.

I'll have to start looking for a source and schedule some time before winter gets here.

thanks,

Gene

I just did mine late last year and we had little trouble doing the job.
Without having my receipts here I believe I paid around $200 for the cables and it took us about an hour to do the work... ... ... . Andy

I ended up replacing the cables from the front to the rear as well. Wasn't exactly cheap, but made the job very easy...
