O. k. maybe this thread isn't in the right place if not please move.

I bought a new aftermarket stereo in-dash dvd w/ nav. to it. and i have to hook a wire up to the parking brake detection switch? in order for it to operate. now i know that some people can bypass this which is what i want but i figured i atleast needed to start by finding this switch or if someone knows how to bypass it and where to find the wire to do so that would be great since that's what i want anyway. But the none of the stereo will work without something being hooked up to it i need to figure something out.

thanks

I don't have a '02 manual but will try anyway. In the '98 manual it doesn't show where the switch is located but shows the wire as WT/LG, 20g. The '04 and '06 manuals show the switch being at the top of the park brake pedal assy with a DG/WT wire. I'm fairly certain your '02 will have the switch in the same location and, being Gen 2, having a WT/LG wire.

Hope this helps. Does the connection break the circuit to disable the unit when the park brake is applied? This would seem to be the case based on the sense type circuit of the park brake but I'm really grasping here. My electronics knowledge is very basic.
