My parking brake gave up on my 3500. It looks like the whole assembly will unbolt w/ 4 bolts. Is that right? Anybody ever removed one to work on it? Will the cable lose tension?
I just replaced the whole assembly, because it would go down, have one 'click' and go all the way to the floor with no brake. If that is what yours is doing, check inside the rear drivers side drum. My brake cable actually wore itself out, and slipped in between the groove in which it sits in. I spent more than I needed which is frustrating, but learned a lesson: Dont jump the gun till you check out the whole system! Good luck!
