I have driven my pride and joy every day since Feb '99 whan I bought it. I must park it for a month (hopefully less). I am looking for opinions.

1) I am not inclined to start it for a few minutes. Would run the battery down and not fully warm up the engine to dissapate bad stuff in the crankcase.

2) I don't thing that it's warn enough in New Jersey yet to worry about algae.

3) Fill both tanks with diesel to dispel condensation.

Agree / disagree - Other things - Besides look longingly at it and remember how much I like driving it.

I have only used my truck once month all winter to plow driveway. Other than a full fuel tank I don't think you really need to do anything else. Once started, I would make sure to run motor till it fully warms up. Anyone else care to chime in?

my dads truck sits for a couple of months somtimes (1991 5 speed) and if the battery is good it starts on the first rev and runs perfectly. I dont think setting hurts anything.

Don't sweat the small stuff.

I'd double dose the tanks with the Fuel Additive of choice, top off the tanks, lock it up, and not worry. ;)

DC recommends the batteries be disconnected if the truck is going to be parked longer than 21 days so the ignition off draw doesn't drain them.

Mine sits 1-3 weeks all the time. All I do is keep the tank toped off to stop condensation. I would have no problem letting it sit for a month.

I used to use Amsoil HD Diesel and marine in my 98 because its made to fight corrosion, but my 02 have never had the oil changed yet, so I may change it 2 times with Rotella T first before switching over to the Same Amsoil I ran on the old truck.

but this ain't an Oil war thread, so run what you want.

My only concern would be draining the batteries. A trickle charger would take care of any doubts in that department.

I am presuming that security for where you're parked up is not an issue? When was the last time you checked the spare under the bed? It might be worthwhile securing that sucker down, for peace of mind.....
