I have 36. 0" Parnelli Jones Dirt Grips on my truck. Recently the truck was getting a little squirley on the road and kind of hopping in the rear. I put the truck on jack stands, started it up, put it in 4 wheel drive and transmission in drive. I was shocked what I saw. The left rear tire is about 1 inch out of round. Went back to where I bought them to complain. These tires have only 17,000 miles on them. He measures my tire tread depth which measures 10/32". A new Dirt Grip measures 21/32" tread depth. Shop calls the distributor, who states that the tires are only warranteed for out of roundness for the first 9/32" of tread wear. So for 2/32" they will not warranty this. So now my $320. 00 tire with half tread wear is useless. I'm fuming. Still waiting to hear from Dirt Grip. I e-mailed them nicely with my concerns. Now I'm forced to buy a new tire. So buyer beware. I thought I finally found a quality big tire, NOT!!!! I was very pleased with these tires up to this point. Oh well, I'm done venting. I guess that old adage applies, if you want to play, you gotta pay. -Glen

Glen I'm sorry to hear about your misfortune with the PJ Dirt Grips. They are so expensive that no one around here even bothers with them.

Not trying to stray away from the topic though, but I would love to see some pictures of your truck with the lift and tires!

My wonderful reply from Dirt Grip

This is Dirt Grip's reply to my e-mail. Tires were rotated back to front, front to back every 5,000 miles. Glen-

Our supplier only warranties out of round tires during the first 10% of tread wear--it is very

unusual for the condition to appear after that--that usually indicates another problem-possibly with the vehicle. Have the tires been rotated or rebalanced?? What a load of crap!!!! -Glen

parnelli tires

I think that is what I bought for my truck. I had a knot come up on a tire on the rear an they were only a few months old. A couple of weeks later the front right tire come apart. The shop manager said that they must be overloaded. It must have been in the glove box, is what I told him. OK what will make you happy? I told the shop manager to get the pos off of my truck before some one gets killed, like me. I had them installed Michelin an I have had great service with them. Later on I got a recall on the rotten tires. To late, if I had left them on the truck I would of had the fenders torn off by now.

I would not run Parnelli on a wheel barrel.

Also- get on 4WD chat boards. Tell your story anytime tyou see a thread discussing relative value of the brands of tires. Cost them at least 10 sets of sales. You do not get the refund/ replacement but the company would have done better financially to do it right by you.

Just tell them your a member of several truck clubs that have thousands of members and your going to post how your getting screwed over one tire that is defective.
