Somewhat relavant to all the tire threads here lately.
As many here have found, Toyo's Open Country MTs are in demand with Toyo having some issues keeping up with orders. I'm very finicky about tires I buy, much like shoes, quality, traction and durabilty are the most important. If a tire has all those assets in the plus side, price is the last issue.
I'll gladly fork the money for tires that will give me some life.
There are certain brand tires I will not even consider due to previous experiences and substandard company affiliations, (names will be left unmentioned).
When I first called for PJ dirt grip prices I found they cost more than Toyos but after some more calls I found several places, even localy, where PJs were $50 a tire cheaper than Toyos.
Make several calls, PJ is making big price cuts right now.
My truck specs are in my sig.
My PJs were mounted and balanced Friday evening and rubbed my factory running boards at half turn, (they rubbed the ABS plastic ends). I got home and used tinsnips on the offensive ABS plastic, still looks stock and no rubbing, easy fix.
Saturday morning headed down to a friends ranch. Hyways speeds showed zero darting at 50psi and a nice soft ride. Just a slight hum from the tires, not even close to annoying tire drone.
The ranch has wet and dry rutted off camber climbs and wet marsh land.
The PJs offered nothing but traction. The wet off camber climbs had the tiniest bit of drafting but only if you let of the pedal.
The wet marsh land never gave the illusion of spinning the tires. I had to punch the throttle to throw mud but I could just motor over it like it was dry.
All in all, I can't find anything wrong with these tires yet. All that's left is the wear factor.
To summarize;
E rated 10 ply radial Mud Terrain
Quiet tire, even at speed.
Very soft ride quality
10 out of 10 on traction (offroad).
I'm not a nutty driver on road so normal driving offered normal traction (on-road).
Here's a pic of the tire;

And proof I can have fun in it;

One last pic of the stance with KORE and 35" MTs.
