   :{ Well I was on the phone withe mechanic to day for abought half of an hour trying to tell him he needs to take a fuel pressure reading no matter what, but he says he can' unless it leaves a code or acts up for him while he is out test driving it, I said BULL. The pressure needs to be checked no matter what, that should be the first thing done. I was out with the truck to night and it acted up BIG TIME this evening blowing smoke missing and surging so I hope it left some kind of a code because first thing in the morning it is going back to the dealer. I just need to convince them to do the pressure reading and to check the crank and cam shaft sensors because I was told if they are bad or going bad it could cause this problem. Well I will let you all know what happens tomorrow but wish me luck as you know how dumb some mechanics can be. You know how my day is going to start thats right at the DODGE dealer. :{ :{

Truckie,

I sympathize, ... dodge Dealers just don't 'get it!'

Something you might want to think about, although it costs a couple of bucks, is to buy a 'Palm Pilot,' and then send for Harrison's OBD II scanner program and cables. (http://www.ghg.net/dharrison/)

If you have any problem with your truck, it will show on his scan, plus, you can even erase the codes after you have fixed any problem.

Remember, knowledge is power!

P. S. I also have 'Cummins Quick Check II,' which does pretty much the same as 'Harrison's' scan program, but it cost 3x more and doesn't erase codes!

Just so you don't burn diagnosis $$ at the dealer looking for the crank position sensor, your 01 truck doesn't have one. You only have the cam position sensor, and it's located under the VP 44.

Oo. Oo. Well well well it only took 2 trips to the dealer and 1 hour on the phone to get it right and I don' know how many reams of paper and info from this site to finally convince the mechanic it is the LP. Remember in the very first post I said the truck is a 2000 titled as a 2001 well the mechanic only now just realized this and also when he checked the computer to day he found the same code in places and it only happened since Friday. " that is Lift Pump Out Of Range"They finally listened to me about the year thing and looked in the 2000 book and said " O yea it is a bad LP we need to order you one" They said they never saw one that was bad and still ran, I told them first time for everything.

The question I have now is since this LP has been acting up for about 3 and half weeks intermittent do you think it caused any harm to the injection pump it self, should I worry about this, it only really acted up on hills but not all the time. The truck is out of warranty but I want to know if I or would it be OK to build the engine now I only have like a year and then some on the engine warranty.

Also how many other people out here have hoped up there engines and voided there warranty? Thanks sorry for all the questions and long post. Oo. Oo.
