Particulate filter (soot trap) or Resonator or ???

I purchased my 2007 truck in Sept of '06.



Found just ahead of the muffler, only the can, no monitoring sytem that I can see. And why would they install one in this model, as the regs only apply post Jan 1, 2007? The can looks much like the one being installed in the 07. 5, 6. 7L.



Have no idea what's inside the can. Hopefully nothing. And perhaps it's meant as some kind of resonator. Does anybody else have one of these?

Welcome to the TDR if no one had said so yet. It's the catalytic converter you are looking at. It also acts as a resonator.

I am sure you are talking about the catalytic converter.

Catalytic converter, been on every CTD since 04. 5 models.



The new regs only apply to trucks built after Jan 1 2007. Previous to that they are the same as the last 3 years.
