The seller says it is original Cummins disks, so I can see no reason why he couldn't sell it. If he was selling copies of the original disks, then he could be facing legal action for copyright infringement. Thanks for the link... . I think I am going to bid on it, so all you other TDR members, don't bid please.
These may be okay. The only thing is they may be date sensitive. Have brought them home from work before and had to back up date in computer to make them come alive. Cummins sends us new ones each month or so for all computers in the building. Not to argue with Steve or anything, I can look up anything engine related for my 94 by engine serial number. Will even show trans cooler and fittings. Will call Cummins tomorrow and check on date issue. If you do consider a set, do it quickly as we are online as of last week and will not get anymore CD's. They will be a thing of the past and will be phased out. Cat and Detroit Diesel are doing the same. Oo.
Can the info on these CDs be stored on the hard drive so you don't have to insert them each time you want to check on something? I have well over 30 gigs of unused space on my HD.
We tried at work but took too much room. Only have directories loaded and change CD's as needed. Will verify size and post results tomorrow evening when I get home from work.
To add to what I posted earlier, I am pretty sure the information on these CD's will show what spec the engine was built to when shipped from Cummins. Anything that Dodge specs that engine to have for installation will show on the CD. For example, the thermostat housing is built to accept the 90amp Mitsubishi alternator which is totally different from a stock 6BTA. It won't help with the truck but will help with anything Cummins was involved in. From what I am finding out pricewise you try not to buy it through Dodge.
i received some of these recently. reset my machine. and there is not obvious file to run to start the program. nor are the files associated with any programs. good luck. scott.
I just loaded an old set I had home and used the midrange disc with date of October 1999. It autoloaded and asked whether I wanted to use CD drive or hard drive. It will take almost 3 gig of hard drive space if you chose that option. Then it will ask you if you want to load Cadleaf viewer which you do. It will restart when finished and will be at the bottom of the programs list. At this point you will have to change date on computer to match date on CD. Have an engine serial number and you are ready to go. I think for most of you with only one engine to deal with that it would be just as well to buy Cummins printed parts manual from Cummins on-line. You can order these specific to your engine serial number and cpl (very important). Hope all this helps to make your decision. If you need information now, Please e-mail me with engine serial number and I will look up and provide part numbers. Allow me 24 hours to respond and will try to help. Oo. Oo.
