Idle problems

I just sold my 98. 5 3500 and picked up a 1993 1 ton. The truck runs great but I am having a problem with the start/stop solenoid and need to replace it. I went to the dealership and the part was quoted to me at 265. 00. When I had a problem with the old truck I went to a Cummins parts house and got the parts for a much better price. The problem is, I cant remember the name of the cummins parts store, or where it was located ( I only had one problem with the old truck). I think it was in Pomona though. Can anone help me find a local (Southern California) Cummins parts shop? Thanks, Ryan

Santa Maria Diesel

Ryan -

Best place I can think of is Santa Maria Diesel in Santa Maria CA, and they have Cummins parts there. I think they are now also a Freightliner parts dealer, but if you call them ask for Rocky in the parts dept. Tell him Sam from ASA Modifieds sent you - he'll laugh a lot. . and then he'll get serious and he'll probably find the parts you need. Their number is (805) 922-5778. Good folks there. Even though I'm in Colorado most of the core parts for the 1st Gen Intakes I produce still come from them. I kept them as my suppliers because it's hard to find the parts, and they can ship directly to me here in CO. Santa Maria is about 3 hours North of LA, along the coast. Hope they can hook you up.

Find a Bosch shop near you or get in touch with Shiver diesel in Tifton Georgia. He can ship one to you for around 100 dollars. We have a good bit of work done at this shop and they are completely reliable. 260 is rape.

$265. 00 ???? Those guys are raping ya!!!!! Try $65. 00... It's like the second gen start/stops... . Dodge is $450. 00... PDR $149. 00 same manufacturer, different supplier

Thanks for the help, I was able to fix the problem and I found a more reasonable replacement. I am planning on switching it over to a manual lever soon, so I dont have this problem again. I am sorry I couldnt get back to you guys sooner, but worksbeen busy..... Now I am going to run and tell my wife that Piers replied to my post! Thanks again- Ryan
