CHASSIS MOUNTED FUEL FILTER IN STOCK 2019+

My 2022 3500 is on the recall. It goes into the dealer for this recall and some other things 2nd week of October. My exhaust is not nice and shiny bright but fairly black, Is this because I don’t have these parts or is it from something else?

And a failed DPF is not covered by factory warranty or max care I don’t know really. Can the dealer tell if it’s bad when I take it in

The DPF has a factory warranty, but is not covered by max care.

Once you get the Y43 recall done you get a 12 month, unlimited mileage, warranty on the DPF. If the factory warranty is longer that still is valid.

Issues not to worry until I do. . I just had seen the white Terry towel in the exhaust and if it comes out a bit black you have exhaust problem but I think that’s total nonsense . How could an exhaust be that clean .Anyway thanks

The exhaust being that clean is normal, not nonsense. If there is soot in the tailpipe you have an issue.

@Turbo Terry, Take a Scotch Brite pad and some Brasso to the inside of the tailpipe. That will clean it right up for you to see what's going on. There will be some road crap but shouldn't be soot as @AH64ID and others have mentioned. I did a bit of polishing on the last 12" of the tailpipe when washing the truck. Didn't come out like a true polished SS look, but was a lot nicer looking for the time spent. Hope your DPF isn't failing on you. I would think that you'd get a MIL (CEL) light on the cluster.

Not always. This makes it harder for the parts changers to do anything about it as there isn't a code to clear. I have been through two RAM dealers that haven't helped. Yay! another call to RAM rather than something my RAM Dealer could have handled without extra burden on me.

One wants to make sure a DPF is fixed under warranty if it has problems before it eventually sets a code outside of warranty.

It's the same with gassers that the cats are starting to fail, but enough is "working" to make it not light a CEL.

I recently worked on a car that had a plugged cat and no CEL, but the performance was garbage.

I believe it’s the particulate matter sensors to detect soot past the filter, so if his DPF is failing the sensor is not in place to read it. Could be why no cel.

Cats on gassers very rarely plug up without an underlying condition.
True.

Wound up being a bad coil not firing thus allowing raw fuel to contaminate the cat.

Just enough not to set a CEL, but enough to drive like total garbage.

Driver drove it like that for 10k+ miles.

Anyhoo, back to diesel talk...

So not having the pm module or sensor has nothing to do with DPF really is that true or not. I’m hearing it both ways which is very confusing. I think it does but I have been wrong before
