Has anyone built a pass through cab to bed? I'm trying to make a third row seat for an '05 quad cab. The seat would be in the bed. My biggest hurdle to overcome is a weather tight seal between the cab and bed. Anyone seen this done before? I want to keep it somewhat simple. The pass though would only be about 18-24 inches wide, not the whole width of the cab, except for the upper portion where the rear widow is. Any ideas?

I have seen it done like the old style camper boots. They use naugahyde attatched with snaps around the opening.

i used to sell and install canopys.

whenever we wanted to do this we would order a fiberglass canopy with a blank windowless front and cut the hole exactly the same size as the cab's rear window opening (window removed of course). we used an accordian boot that will attatch to both surfaces. the boot comes in a roll that you cut to the right size and overlap and tuck/glue for a better seal at a low point.

other options are an inflateable boot or a kiss boot which will connect to the canopy. both will take the paint off your cab and in my opinion junk.

Mckinley custom conversions. Click on the link in my signature. He did this to my 2nd gen, he has done this to his own 3rd gen. He's got three rows of seats with that one and uses a weatherproof boot that seals the entire opening.

I don't know where he sourced it from, I am sure that could call and he may sell you one. As for a decription, on the inside of the truck it's carpeted over and can't see it. From the outside, if you look between the back of the cab and the bed/sleeper addition, all you can see is a black boot that goes around the entire opening. He also glues the boot in place where it joins to the body. It is not the typical boot that you see on a camper shell at the back window of most trucks. Hope this helps.
