Attention: TDR Forum Junkies I have a 1996 and the dash is cracking like so many out there. The quick fix is a replacemnt panel / cover or a molded piece of carpet to hide the cracks.
But I have another thought.
Anyone ever put in a 1997 dash with the passenger air bag? (the 96 only came with the driver and the 1998 is completely different)
