when the passenger door is closing, the cut out in the door where the u-bolt goes in is hitting on the top. instead of the u-bolt swinging right into the middle of the slot. there didn't appear to be any adjustment screws or anything of the sort. any comments appreciated. thanks. scott.

The adjutment is made by loosening the door hinge bolts, some you can see between the door and fender, and some are in the cab behind the plastic cover by your feet. It wiil require someone to assist you to hold the door while adj. are made. It's pretty simple.

P. S. How's the weather down there, leaving to FT. lauderdale on tuesday!

thanks. i will get the wife to help me. we just got back from the keys this weekend. i was blowing pretty bad. we were holed up in a boat on marathon key. hell of a lot nicer than up north still. thanks again. scott.

well, i've done a search and i found everything from chiropractic moves to changing the door hinges. my door looks as though it is sagging towards the rear of the truck. i guess it shut correctly at one time. so moving the u-bolt with the big torx bits seems like i'm just chasing the problem downward and not bringing the the door up. i am guessing that the bolts you're talking about will do this. ??

thanks. scott.

Yea, the doors are pretty heavy and they could have slid the hinge in a little, but check the hinge itself. Grab the end of the door at the latch side and lift up and down,to see if there is any play in it. That will do it every time,if there is it will have to be replaced. It's not to big of a job for someone who is even slighty handy, but again someone will have to hold that door up for a while,'till the hinge is on again. Good luck.

How do you adjust the top door hinges? On the drivers side they are hidden behind a metal plate. I don't know about the passenger side.

well, i just looked at my door hinge again. the passenger side top hinge has 2 bolt heads that it looks like i could get a socket on, but there is what appears to be a stud sticking thru from the inside. my door appears to be sagging. i am still pondering what to do. the hinges do not appear to be to easy to move around. thanks. scott.

If it's like the drivers side, there is a metal plate covering the bolt you need to adjust. I haven't looked on the passenger side.

well alan you are the resident door guru from all i see in the searches..... so get out there and tell us what is going on!! :) ;)

Yea, on the passenger side ,the bolt is on the inside behind the sound profing, pull that out of the way to get to it. The driver's side on the other hand is a mother *%#!*&# to get to, the e-brake needs to be moved to get to that one bolt. Have fun!!!!

Yeah, right. I wish I could figure it out. There is a way, I just don't know what it is. Mine are pretty well adjusted. Biggest problem was that the drivers door rode up on the top insulation when it was closed causing it to squeak. With a slight adjustment to the top of the door, it is pretty well fixed. I still want to know how to adjust the doors.

well i went out to the truck tonight - passenger side. the bolts that attach the door to the hinge are adjustable in all directions! just take a 1/2" wrench and start turning! i did and now i have !@#$ed it all up. but it is adjustable.

good luck. scott.
