passenger rear window shattered

was at thanksgiving yesterday outside cooking with dutch ovens, four of us were standing near the truck when i walked over and as soon as i opened my drivers front door and heard a loud bang (thought one of the kids hit my truck with something on passenger side) just then the glass on the passenger rear window fell out on the ground!! the other people asked what i did,, i just opened the drivers door!! really wierd, havent used that window for several days. it was about 40deg out, the sun was out but it could not have been only 5deg warmer in the truck??

put in a piece of card board and some duct tape to get home.

should i get it warrantied or claim it on my ins. ?

Broken Window

Well you could try the dealership first on warranty you might get lucky an have one of those easy to deal with dealerships that say no problem, weird things do happen. It may be hard to prove it was a factory flaw though.



I would bet though you'll probaly have to go through a insurance claim before it's all said an done.

That sucks! Every now and then someone mentions this happened to them, but it's usually when they CLOSE a door rather than open it. Gotta be a defect in the glass that causes this when the pressure changes. Fortunately I doubt this would ever happen with people actually sitting in the truck because their breathing would keep the pressure more equalized.

Your not the only one. I was driving home from work in the summer, took off from the office and BOOM the driver side rear window blew out. I was told Dodge is famous for windows blowing out easily.

Just saw this thread, and thought I was the only one. 3 weeks ago I went out about 9:00am and my passenger rear window was shattered. It was still there but shatterd. I put duct tape very carefully on the whole thing and called the dealer, he said it was my fault and wasn't warranteed. I called the glass shop and got one put in the next day. He looked at it and couldn,t figure it out either. The dealer wanted $330 for the window and $160 to install. The glass shop charged me $340 installed. I think Dodge got a bad batch of glass.
