Passport renewal

Thought I'd share this just in case anyone is in need of renewing or applying for a new passport.
My wife and I sent in our renewal papers last February and still no passports. i will mention tho'...the State dept. did not hesitate to cash my checks
As per the SD website:


Application Status Updates During the COVID-19 Pandemic

• Due to COVID-19, we will not be able to provide a specific update on when you will receive your passport and when we will return your citizenship documents (e.g. previous passports, birth and naturalization certificates) until we reach phase three of our reopening.
• If you call us or check online after you apply or renew, your application status may be "Not Found" or "In Process."
• "Not Found" means your application is in transit to one of our passport agencies.
• "In Process" means your application is with the Department of State and we will review it as our staff return to work in phases.

My wife's and daughter's are in this same holding pattern. Only plus is really can't go anywhere, but I get the they took my money part.

When the GOVT shutdown in early 19 for I think 30 days it delayed the Trusted Traveller programs like PreCheck and Global Entry for about 6mo, they used that shutdown notice for many many months that stuff will be delayed.

In my case, my global entry was up in May of 19, I had reapplied in maybe Dec of 18? They did an excellent job on getting it thru and reissued the documents.

So hopefully it will not be the same for all these things, based on that I figure it will be many years of delays for things.

Of course now I went and checked my Passport...... July 2022.....

I can tell you that if you know someone in your Senators office and you have a need they can make your passport happen overnight, or if you can get to a processing center it can happen while you wait. Like I said no big deal I don't see them getting to go anywhere anytime soon anyway. I doubt my trip to Cayman Brac in October happens the way things are going. We all better make a sure our Pearly Gate Passport is good because that is the one we will need the most!!!

We had plans for traveling to Cairns Auz' later this year but with everything going on we put the brakes on that. I'll take the Pearly Gate passport hands down!
