June 7 — U. S. gasoline prices may not be as expensive as originally thought this summer. The government Friday reduced estimates for average prices by 3 cents to $1. 41 a gallon. Separately, a group of researchers unveiled findings that indicate diesel fuel may upend gas as a preferable fuel due to recent technological advances and price advantages... :)

Price advantage....

I remember when Diesel was 20 to 30 cents cheaper than unleaded. Now I am lucky to find it for less than unleaded. :{ :{

Geeeeze, around here it's sometimes hard to find regular #2 diesel for less than PREMIUM unleaded!#@$%! :{

There are 3 reasons why oil companies charge more for a product that is easier to make and is more heavily used than ever.

1 GREED!

2 GREED!!

3 GREED!!!

Nope! You're all wrong...

It's a government conspiracy again... ... ... ..... Due to all of the heavy taxes on diesel fuel because of the Big Rigs and the road taxes. Otherwise diesel fuel WOULD be cheaper.

A short note to my previous statement... I hope that you all are shopping at a station that rebates back to the customer at least 8 cents for each gallon of diesel purchased. Or is this only in Arizona. A buck or two on each fill up does help a little.

The only stations that rebate 8 cents back to the customers are the one that are charging 8 cents more for their diesel. :p ;)

Rebates= we charge 50% too much so we can give you 8% back. :mad:

Hey Mr. Salesman, LOWER your dang prices, and we won't NEED a rebate:-{}

Actually, I meant that the 8 cents a gallon rebate was a government mandated refund for the light duty diesels. Isn't our government just wonderful.

A few months back, I was following another CTD as it turned in to a parking lot at a local "Stop & Rob". I noticed on the side was the company sign for a local gas station company and there was a trailer hitch plug for that particular "Stop & Rob". I parked and went in to talk with the owner. I asked him why his diesel prices were 20 cents higher than just up the highway. He beat around the bush for a couple of minutes then said "I purchase the diesel and can sell if for whatever price I want. " I told him, "Yes, you're right, you can sell it for whatever price you want. However, I'll be telling everyone I see driving a diesel to go 5 miles up the highway and get it for much less. ", and walked out. 3 or 4 days later he dropped his price by 15 cents. I still haven't bought diesel from him - I don't know what his diesel turnover is and I won't buy old diesel.
