I am trying to determine if the PCM in my 2000 is bad, ("no BuS" issue), I am curious if anyone knows if I could take the one from my '99 and hook it in to at least see if the "no BuS" issues goes away. I would assume the truck would not function correctly with the wrong PCM but would it damage the borrowed PCM, or the host truck?

Thanks

I believe the vin must match (flashed). I tried to swap a ecm, only to get the blinking cel. However swaped a ABS controller with no problems. The buss is 5 volts on two pins, did you check that? Start with the pins in the ODB port. the 5 volts comes from the body timer behind the dash. There is also a plug right above the valve cover that feeds the ecm & pcm. Clean the contacts. things to look for are open or shorted wires. If you need to unplug everything to test, here is a list (from memory) PCM, ECM, ABS, AIR BAG, AUTO transmission?, RADIO W/ STEERING WHEEL CONTROLS, OVERHEAD CONSOLE & BODY TIMER.

I pulled all the plugs I could get to, and reseated them, didn't have any contact cleaner at the time, will pull them and spray them tonight, put them back together. batteries have been swapped, tried plugging in the old VP (was just replaced), tried it w/ vp unplugged, pulled gauge cluster and gave it a wiggle. Truck lost vp a couple months ago and sat at the shop until I got the new VP a couple weeks ago which was put in at the shop. truck went into shop with only bad vp, left with "no-BuS", the batteries went completely dead while at the shop, hence the replacement.
current symptoms:
-odom displays normal until normal wait to start "no BuS" on odom
-only tach works (no other gauges)
-no TC lockup or overdrive
-no alternator
-poor throttle, low power

Things it does normal: startup is normal, runs smooth.
