Just hoping to help others out. BOB W, hope ya see this.

The PCM located on the firewall behind the airbox is compatible with any like numbered PCM.

EX.

MY pcm ended in #199AA... any pcm with 199Ax will work. So 199AB 199AC 199aD (current production is 199AD and si what you will get if you go to dodge and bought a 199AA)

That should help alot! It is verfied, by dodge, and by it working in my truck. The dealer can re-flash your new PCM with the right ODO reading and VIN #.

Hope it helps. I am PCM-edjumicated now.

Mostly correct. A good majority of Mopar numbers end with an Ax and when they make an updated part or just change the number the x is changed to the next number in the alphabet. BUT there are times when an AB can be completely different between a AC so I would always check with a dealer to make sure it will work.

Be really careful with installing just any PCM

A truck was towed into my shop for a no start. He'd recently installed an injection pump and couldn't get it started. After some checking I figured out the key missed the slot in the injection pump gear. It was a little messy getting the crushed key out of the gear. After straightening out that situation,it still wouldn't start. Hooked up a scanner to find the anti theft was shutting it down. I also noticed a new PCM on the firewall. I disconnected the PCM ,this enabled it to start. So I called the owner,he told me he installed the rebuilt PCM to try and get it started. He also told me the truck did not have antitheft. Turns out the rebuilt PCM numbers matched his old numbers but it had originally been flashed with an antitheft program. this part of the program cannot be cleared out. When it was installed it reflashed the BCM to think it had antitheft, even though there was no antitheft hardware on the truck. So he had no way to to disarm it. Turned out he had to buy a clean Mopar PCM and a clean BCM to get his truck started.
