Need help. I am having a problem with my PCM? With my engine runing I loose power to my (Tach,A/C,Charging sys,O/D,Cruse Control, deminished engine power,)Can anyone give me an idea of what might be wrong, a clue. It has happend 4 times so far in a two week period of time. The relays for the a/c energise,I have power where I am supose to at the fuse's. I think I may have a bad ground connection. If anyone can help pinpoint the problem I could use the help. Maybe someone else had this same problem? I plan on checking the TPS but donot know if that could be it. HELP.
-------------------------------------------08-21-00 I belive I found the cause of my problem. I called Womach Diesel in Sequin,Tx and spoke to Shane,Ihave been dealing with Womach since I got the Dodge Ram,Cummims Diesel. I explain the problem I was haveing to him and he imediately told me to check the "CRANK SPEED SESENSOR,LOCATED AT THE FRONT OF THE ENGINE ABOVE THE HARMONIC BALANCER" this sends a signal to the PCM that the engine is runing and it brings the GEN,A/C,CLUTCH,TACH,CRUISE AND O/D UP AND RUNING. After talking to him I opened the connecton to the sensor and found that one terminal has had a great deal of heat on it(blackend due to heat) I could see that the contacts on the female connector did not make good contact. I bent the tabs in as much as I dared, with the sensor disconnected I started the engine and was able to duplicate the problem,I shut the engine down and pluged the sensor back in,restarted engine and everytrhing came on. So this sensor is critical to proper operation of the engine componets. Thanks for everyones help I'm not afraid to drive any distance again.

Bill Check out engine speed sensor and connections going to it. I believe as I was going thru the shop manual looking for another problem that it stated that the speed sensor energizes the auto shut down relay which regulates generator field for charging system. It also send signals TPS and signals to the PCM which tranfer the signals to tach. Could be bad PCM.

You can get fault codes stored in Pcm, with or wuth out scan tool. But we need to know what year the the truck is so someone with that year's shop manual can give you instructions how to get codes with out using scanner.
