Pacbrake sticks on

Mag-Hytec install on a 2002 3500 Dana80 4x2 w/sway bar

Morning, fellas!!

Here is where my truck is headed. I have the DTT stuff in, gauges will go in this weekend. I have a pusher pump, banjo bolts, and an Edge comp. Will be ordering DD11's, 4" exhaust (as soon as I can figure out which one) and intake (probably an afe). I know that I wll need a different turbo. Looks like it would either be a PDR35 or 40.

This truck is driven mostly empty,, but sometimes with a trailer carrying a Jeep and other gear, about 8000 lbs. Most of my Jeepin buddies drive Powerstrokes, so I need to say no more to you guys! We havent traveled together since I bought this truck, so, it will be MY turn to do some raggin on the radio!.

Would you please give your opinions, esp anyone that has had a PDR35 that went to a PDR40. Thanks!!

Robin

Get the PDR40 with the 16cm2 housing also you'll need a 4" downpipe and 4" exhaust to mate with this setup.

The PDRhx40 is a great turbo, and EGT will be in check up into the 400+hp area.

I would just start with the Piers HX-40, that way after to power bug hits you have some room for more HP.

Which torque converter did you end up with?

I'd go with the PDR40, it should hold you over for a while. And I garentee if you don't like it you'll be able to find a buyer for it for a small loss, then you could purchase a PDR HX35.

Remember to consider which turbo to buy if you ever plan on adding an exhaust brake. It could save you some $$ in the long run.

Kat- I got the 89%. Tried to PM you but your box is full--What exhaust do you use and when is your next trip to Johns??

I guess I need to expand, what are the advantages/disadvantages to these 2.

I also heard that Wildcat Diesel will be coming out with a comparable or better turbo. I don't know. Has anyone heard anything about that?

I just installed a PDR 35 W/16cm nonwastgated housing. I have DD2's 89% DTT TC and 4" exhaust. I have not seen temps over 1300 and the Spool up is not objectionable at all. I went this route because I did not want to have to change out my Pac Brake. I believe if you go to the 40 you will have to put the exhaust brake down stream from the Turbo some place. If I am wrong someone please correct me. All in all I am very happy with this setup.

Get 3's and a 40. I put acouple hundred miles on a auto truck with 2's, comp and a 40. Was a real slug off the line unless on 4x5 and up.

My box runs full most of the time... ... ... ..... its got a lil room in it now tho. I sent you my email via PM.

I have run the JRE exhaust, and currently have the BullyDog exhaust on the truck. My two favorite exhausts are JRE and DD.

Next trip to Johns... ... . not sure lots of things happening right now, but I'll let you know. That reminds me I need to call him.

Others make a good point... ..... about the exhaust brake. I didn't think of that angle since I don't tow.

They are bad news on a stock auto. With your DTT set up, it is possible to use one. If you buy an HX40 you will need a remote mounted exhaust brake.

The DTT helps but you need the Smart Controller or a manual TC lock up in order to really make it work. My Smart Controller really does the trick

Who makes exhaust brakes that mounts downstream of the turbo???

Robin
BD makes a 4" remote mount EB. Pac is coming out with one if they haven't already but it will be air activated. Those are the two I know of but I believe there is at least one more. :)
