More transmission upgrades?

What is needed to check and set timing on p-pump?

Well, the KDP got me a couple days ago, sooooo, I figure it's a perfect time for a cam. The only reason I wouldn't do it is $$$ will be tough (but not impossible) to come up with. Should I go for it or not? I had a cam in the master plan already, but not this soon.

Truck Bio: '98, 12v, 5spd, 13"OFE, HTT HX35/40-16, PDR 370's, 4000 GSK, 0 plt, the usual intake/exhaust/gauges, Snow Perf. H2O/Meth. Inj, DD/NX N2O (not hooked up yet).

At 9000 ft, EGT is ALWAYS a problem and spooling seems to take forever, so I really want a cam... ...

What do ya think??

TIA,

Matt

"At 9000 feet egt's are always a problem and spooling takes forever, so I really want a cam". Sounds like you've made up your mind. As far as the money goes. Don't worry, you don't need both kidneys.

I'd say... Yes.

It's only $700 or so for the cam. Labour will be cheap since you'll have all the stuff you have to remove allready outta the way.

Put some head studs, and bump the timing to 20*, and call it fun.

I really like mine. It spools quicker and lower egts. When i dynoed last the torque started to climb fast at 1400 and held it all the way to 2500 with the hp graph about the same. Very happy!
