This is just a little informal observation of the differences since I bolted on my new turbo. My previous turbo was a stock HX-35 with a banks 14cm housing, wastgated at 40psi.

1. There is a bit more lag of the start, not a big deal as it is to be expected.

2. With Van Aaken and DDII's

A: Cruise temp up from 600 to about 650-700.

B: Peak boost at full throttle down from 33 to about 25

C: Temps at full throtle down a little to about 1200.

3. Now add in the blue chip fueling box set at 30%

A: Peak boost down from pinned on the gauge over 40psi to about 35.

B: Egt used to work right up to 1500 but now they slowly climbs up to about 1300-1350 give or take. (Hard to glance at gauge at these speeds!;) )

I only have put about 250 miles on my new hx 40 so far. I miss the bottom end and spool up of the little 35 but the top end on the 40 awesome!!!!!:D

Yeah I love the PDR 40. I Had the Pdr 35 before this one and when the blue chip was on 63 with the DD3's and I mashed it (Once it spooled) I saw a peek of 52 lbs  WOW think of the heat (1675 to be exact) and that was by the eighth mile too. No damages as of yet but who knows in the future what that did?

now I can drop dead smash the pedal on DRAG MODE with the PDR40 and by the end of a 1/4 mile I see 1480. Man HUGE difference indeed. I stacked the Blue chip with the old school VA and I really don't worry about lag (Bc normaly set on 8% all the time other than fun time) the sound is the real kick in the arse... ... evil at best.

Thanx Piers!..... AGAIN ;)

MORE FUEL

MD500E, Dude you need to ADD some more fuel. The lower boost numbers tell you don't have enough yet.

Well what do I know I don't ever think I have enough fuel

:--)

I took off a HX-35/16 on the only reason my boost dropped is because the Piers Super HX-40 has a wastegate. I was getting 46 with the HX-35 and right at first only 38 with the Super turbo. At the fueling level I had at the time I had WAY bad smoke with 46 pound of boost with the 35 and just a hase with the Super turbo. And at the most I lost 50 RPMs in spool up.

more fuel?

Is there such thing as too much fuel off of idle. I have my fueling box unhooked from the map sensor and a boost module in its place. This way there is no delay on the fueling waiting for boost if you want to make smoke. I Would think there is a point when there is too much fuel being introduced to the combustion chamber and you begin to loose power. From a dead stop my truck is slightly faster to spool up to about 10psi with the fueling box off. With it on it takes a little longer and makes tons of nice thick black smoke. :D

What is the wastegate set to on these PDR hx-40's? I read somewhere not to go over 40psi.
