Finally got the pdr-40 installed, had a heck of a time trying to get the down pipe clamp to seal,if the exhaust brake is on it sounds like one heck of a leak after repeated attempts of removing and retighting the clamp I'm not sure it will ever seal . The other question is there a silencer ring for the hx-40 ? The noise is more than I can take as a daily driver, it would be cool for an occasional joy ride,I haven't driven but a few miles as of yet but testing will be under way this week, got to break it in gently ya know. If anyone else has experienced trouble sealing the down pipe or has ideas please let me know or maybe on old silencer ring laying under the bench somewhere. Tim

Look in the inlet to see if there is a snap ring groove for the silencer ring. According to the Holset site, some have, some don't.

A BHAF will quiet a 35 without a ring down to about the same noise level as a stock air cleaner with the ring.

BFC, you can do an exhaust brake with the larger turbo's providing its a 4" remote mount.

Ahhhhhh I see, thanks for the info Sly.

I don't understand why it was so difficult to install the downpipe and have it seal? Is the turbo clocked properly? Did you loosen the other exhaust pipe connections to plenty of movement for the downpipe when installing?

My PDRHX40 had a silencer ring. I removed it because it was causing the turbo to bark too much. Remove the air intake hose and see if there is a groove in the turbo.

No there isn't a grove in the intake on this unit, yet. I'm not sure why the down pipe was such a PITA it was as if the bend in the pipe was not hardly right like it was an 85 instead of a 90 degree bend. I willgive Piers a call later today for some expert advise.
