The turbo is running awsome , the spoolup in IMO is just as quick as the stock HX35. Watching the tach , right at about 1,100 rpm in first gear it starts to build boost , and once you stomp it , the boost gauge swings with no delay to 40 PSI
also on a 600 ml highway trip I picked up a solid 1 mpg improvement. At 75 mph the boost is at 4 psi vs. 8psi with the stock turbo , which probably explains the better mileage. Cruise EGT's are only slightly higher 680 - 700 now vs 630 - 660 with the HX35.
Dyno results improved by 41 HP at the wheels with the stock HX35 the truck made 447 HP now with the HX40 it made 488 HP . That number might actually be slightly higher because now i'm running 18" wheels w/ 1" taller tires , and the last dyno was with stock wheels & tires, any opinions on this? I'll have to put some stock wheels back on and try it again. Of course the best benifit of all is the lower EGT's under W. O. T before the truck would easily hit 1600 F in a 1/4 ml , now it wont get out of the 1,400's.
The only thing I noticed different with this turbo compared to stock is the exhaust tone at idle , with the stock turbo you would hear that nice whistle from the tailpipe , now it's gone with the HX40 :{ anyone else notice this? The only thing I can figure is at idle this turbo probably spins slower and therfore no whistle.
