Im debating on wether i should put a stock hx40 in my 600 cummins or the pdrhx40 there is some speculation the pdr hx40 might spool so fast it will break easier then the stock hx40 due to the compressor and turbine modifications. both turbos are 16cm exhaust housings. As I understand that the stock hx 40 is rated for 400hp and the Pdr hx40 is rated closer to 450hp. i have heard the pdr hx's have bigger bearings and different fin configurations. Any ideas?

Call Piers for the exact answer, but PDR turbos are modified to increase oiling to the berrings and the housing are machined a bit. I think they have bigger berrings also. I know I love my PDRHX40 and would not have condidered a stock HX40.

Just so you know, there are like 40 different HX40 models. Not all of them are created equal.

Good luck

There are quite a few PDR40s out there, but you don't hear of them being blown up unless the truck has the TST fueling box on the 3rd Gen (but the TST can toast any turbo).

Back in the day when diesel Bombers began trying the HX40, they were blowing them left and right, with less HP than people are generally running now.

For me it would be an easy choice. . . PDR40.

Is it true, regarding the 325/600, that the extra fuel it adds for emmisions is blowing turbos because they spool so fast. I think it is when used with a fueling box. Just something I heard through the grapevine.
