Made a lot of changes over the winter. I was previously at 513hp now at 550hp with nothing but air. Yep got 37 hp with just airflow improvements, no added fuel. The mods included a PDR HX50, PDR ported and o-ringed head, PDR camshaft and ported ATS manifold. With all these mods taking place at the same time it is hard to tell which one had the most affect but I must say that the HX50 is a major player
The HX50 is a real wild ride
At my hometown elevation of 6000 ft it 's a little on the laggy side which is to be expected for a turbo of this size, but its definitely worth the wait because when this turbo "comes in" you better be pointed straight and be paying attention to whats in front of you
It starts making boost (slowly) at 1200-1300 and once it gets to 20 psi at about 1900 rpm the needle on my boost gauge literally jumps to around 50 psi depending on the load or gear. The needle moves so fast its hard to watch
Dyno runs here
Cruising egt's are just slightly higher, maybe 50 deg. Towing a heavy load egt's can get a little hot if you don't keep the turbo spooled up. Running around empty (even when lead footing it) egt's are not a problem at all. I don't hit 1300 deg until somewhere over 95 mph WFO
