Alright I am finally trying to fix the boost leak I have.

I am replacing the boot on the passenger side that is straight. The blue one from PDR.

Problem is the stock one is 3. 5" long while the PDR boot is 5". I have tried to get it to slide on using both sides (turbo and plactic) with no luck. It seems as though it is to tight as I can't pull the plactic part back far enough.

Did you guys cut your down or just work on it till you got it? I am also worried about messing up the 45 degree boot by pulling on it and twisting like I have been doing.

Thanks

I replaced all four of my boots with the PDR stuff. It was a tight fit and took a lot longer that I thought it would. My "blue one" up by the turbo was too long, so I trimed it a little to make if fit. What really helped me get the job done was to trim the boot to the correct length, remove the the metal downpipe from the turbo, use hairspray to lubricate the boot and get all the pieces together and aligned correctly. The hairspray lubricates really well, gives you a couple (short minutes) to work the parts together and then dries out. If you get the alignment wrong, take the boot off, use "new" hairspray and a paper towel to remove the old hairspray and try again. Then I buttoned up the turbo downpipe last. The downpipe removal was easy, the gasket can be reused.

intercooler boots

i had the same problem when i installed my pdr intercooler boots. i had to trim the ome coming off the tubo to the pipe tha connects to the intercooler. i would recomend getting the whole kit. ive had mine up to 39psi no problems. the add a bit of "bling" under the hood as well.

Thanks for the help guys. Hairspray and cutting it down did the trick.

Dn't think I need all of them yet as I am still at low boost levels (31 or so).

Thanks again

Just put my PDR boots w/ spring clamps on and have to say I can't believe I didn't know something was wrong.

I can set a high idle with my foot now -

I can maintain high boost as a constant level - 34 or higher with my set up -

I swear to whatever it's quieter -

I achieve a little boost - nice and steady at low speeds whereas none would show before -

My smoke is way down with my new Comp -

Install was a BEE-ACH. Hairspray is nice but don't hesitate to use WD, I wish I had from the git-go. I had one of PDR's boots (the coolant hose) so far on when the hairspray tacked up I was about to cut it off. These boots aren't blowing anywhere whatever you use for lube. Your intake might blow off or the intercooler explode, but these will be holding pressure till it does.

Don't forget the elbow on the turbo is clock-able. Not that I did - I just figured it could be done - and you might pull your hair out trying to get everything lined up before you realized there was a band clamp there also.

I just put Pier's boots on mine, they are quite stiff, alright. To make the job a lot easier I put about a 1/4" bevel in the soft rubber inside, hairsprayed them and they slid on without too much grief.

Anyone know how tight these clamps are supposed to be?

TIA. . Jerry
