Currently running an EZ & F1 Diesel 1. 2s (75-80 hp). I'm guessing I'm somewhere in the ballpark of just South of 300 rwhp... What do you think? My question is I've read many different claims about injectors with a hybrid turbo (insert your flavor here) & that increases the rwhp by X-amount. Is this true? I can't see where at my HP level it would make much if any in power difference. Am I wrong?

Looks like I'm going to be coming into a little chunk of cash & I've been thinking the PDR-35\14 might be nice for a little faster spool up & possibly a little cooling on the EGTs when pulling the 5vr over the passes. Would I get more lag with the 14 cm housing? I'de hate to spend the cash & end up with more lag than I have with my HX-35\12. Any input would be much appreciated.

Your truck and mine are not that different. I have the 1. 6 injectors which are 90 horse and the PDR35/14. With the Comp on level 3x3 I made 343/701 with no smoke and very drivable EGTs. If I set the Comp on 4 or 5 I am fueling more than I really have enough air for but I made 385/790. This is with the wastegate at 36PSI. I don't really notice that much lag, especially after going with the 4" exhaust. It is very quick to spool if I put my foot in it. My dyno numbers were just what i calculated them to be by adding the gains for each part. I figure that the turbo and exhaust each gave me about 20 HP. You should have plenty of air with the 35/14. Piers states that it is good to 350HP and I have to agree. If you still have the HY you will definately see a marked improvement by going to the PDR35. I considered the 12 housing but it will restrict you at the upper end where you probably will want to have less heat. I'm sure there is a tradeoff between spool and upper end EGT control, but the 14cm spools plenty fast enough and gives you more at the top. Also, 12cm housings are fairly common and can be had cheap but a 14 is not so easy to find, especially wastegated, so buy the 14 and find a used 12 to play with if you feel the need.

Actually I'm running a HX-35\12 now. I think I'm looking at about $1100 for a new pdr\35 with a WG14 housing. Just wanting to be sure I'll see a little bang for my buck! From everything I've read, the pdr 35 is a great little turbo for mild bombs & I believe my truck fills that bill exactly with the injectors & minor fueling & timing box... .

I'll let you know... . I'm installing mine (PDR HX35/14cm2) tomorrow. :D

And $1100 and change is right. :-laf

You could get the PDR without an exhaust housing & use your 12 to save a few bucks. I did that with a Dodgzilla but I allready was using a 14. A little port matching with a die grinder or even a Dremel tool is good to help spool as well

The 14 will a good one. The 12 is very restrictive on the top end.

On my 12v, I gained 1. 5mpg switching from the stock HX35 and injectors, to a set of 370s and a PDR HX40.

Why do you want to get a turbo at this point? I know with my F1 1. 6 & smarty I cannot get my egt's high at all, ever. It's only when I turn on the powermax comp that things get toasty. If I were you, I would add more fuel first. Then when things get toasty get a bigger turbo that will work with some real fuel mods. Or you could just leave it alone and not do anything.

Try pulling with an auto! If I was running a 6 spd it might be a different story. I don't have huge issues now, especially since going to 4. 10s but am always lookin for improvements. Just a heads up, your 1. 6s are about 10 hp more than my 1. 2s... I opted for 1. 2s over 1. 6s for a reason..... The auto trans!

I don't think switching from a stock HX35-12 to a PDR HX35-14 is going to gain you that much, you could swap in a HX40 but will gain some lag. Why not just buy a WD 14 housing and swap out the 12.
