OFF-Brand fueling ?

I have had my PE4200 pump about 18 months and about 9000 miles. my first thought was that it was the last pump i would have to buy. It was really loud all the time in the cab (mounted in the pusher location). Lately it has been loud sometimes and then will quiet down, then start to get really loud again. sometimes it reads 21 psi and sometimes it will only read about 15 psi. all of these symptoms seem to be independent of each other, meaning that when it is loud i get either pressure reading and vice versa. i generally get my fuel the same place (high volume station). any thoughts or ideas, i really don't want another $400 pump dying on me in less than 10k miles, but this pump sounds bad!!

dunp the pe4200

I only had the pe4200 for about 3 months ,first one started with 22psi and then with time and miles it would start to lose presure, dropped to 10psi before i replace with another pe4200,second one did the same thing. That was not the only worry, both would leak fuel  though the brass screw or dimple on the side of the pump when it was put under load(mostly towing). I bought mine from Doug :) at Advanced Diesel Technology, hell of a nice guy,he gladly took them back and refunded my money which i put towards a FASS from him(he is no longer selling the pe4200 due to to many problems---they are for race cars/alcohol/strip etc from what i was told---they don't like the taste of DIESEL. The FASS is a constant 17psi and can't pull it below 15psi at WOT. Maybe do a search on the pe4200,i'm sure i have read other members having problems as well in the past. That my opinion of them, bin there, done that, don't like that. ---PS--- The FASS is hanging in there so far,you may want to look at a FASS or AIRDOG to solve your fuel pump problems. DW.
