Manifold bolts

how many guys running the Pe 4200 and how are they holding up?i need to get a better fuel supply for my new mach 2 injectors, did not know to go with the PE or a fass?

I just got the latest PE 4200 from Rip Rook, I haven't put it in yet. A few guys local have been using the PE for a good 2 years w/ no problems.

Sounds like a lot of good things are being reported about the FASS also.

Do a search for both to help you decide!

I am a Local ... Or LOCO in which TqT speaks LOL! God how long? uhh I think it's been 2 years and It looks and feels good , strong , and has been a great upgrade! However do check into the others as well.

I have run the PE for 6 months and just had my first one die. It is being replaced by the great warrenty that they offer. The only other pump I would think about running is the Aeromotive that Chris Sutton ran for 2 years with no problems.

:)

I'm on my third. I got it through Rip Rook and is supposed to be an updated version. The previous two were orignals. Got about 10k on it and its still going strong hope it stays that way.

Zach, why your 3rd - different vehicles, or failures?

The first one lasted about 6k before the pressures dropped too low for it to be useable. The second one lasted a whopping 800 miles before it just flat out died in the space of about 2 miles. I still had the first pump as a spare so I threw it back on and suprisingly it gave good pressure so I kept it on for about another 1500miles till it got weak again. These two pumps got power from the stock lift pump pigtail. For my third one I used the stock pigtail as the switch on a relay and so far this seems like a better setup. The pressures on this new pump are not as high as the previous two but at 15 cruise and 17idle the pressure is alot steadier.

got about a year and 6k miles on mine... sucker is loud, but maintains good pressure... i think it is an original one, cause i got it before the "update", but i sealed it with silicone before installation. no problems yet other than the noise

On 6/6/2003 PE responded to me with this email reply:

"Please excuse our long delay in getting back to you. We have been experiencing some problems with 4100, 4200 & 4300 pumps when used on the Dodge diesel. For the time being we are suspending sales of these pumps for this application until we have solved the problem. Please contact us in future (30-45 days) for an update. "

I didn't contact them back... but it has obviously been longer than 30-45 days. Prolly wouldn't hurt to give them a call now and see whats up. I haven't noticed any threads on the PE for a while.

My PE4200 has been working well for the last 11 months and about 20K miles, but I have a gripe. I have heard that when Product Engineering had a problem with the pumps in diesel applications, they came out with a fix they called the “Green Tag” version. Latter another version called the “Blue Tag” version was released. I believe this is the one they are now selling.

I sent an email to John at Product Engineering to ask if my pump needed to be updated. I received no answer. A month later I sent another email to Mike at Product Engineering asking the same questions and telling him I did not get a response from John. No answer from Mike.

I don’t get riled easily, but to ignore a customer’s questions speaks volumes about their service. If my 4200 fails out of warrantee I think I'll try another brand.

Dave,

Not to make excuses for anyone, but I bet they don't check they're e-mail very often, if at all. Try calling them, I get an answer everytime.

Rob

EDIT, is anyone who uses a PE pump using PE's dual relay harness?

I bought a used green tag and called PE to ask some questions. I was told to send it to them to have the blue tag update done for free.

I just called to see about the warrenty.

I was told they changed someting in the pump part with the update.

I sent it up and one week later I called to ask about it and it was just shiped that day.

I can't tell you how well it works because I haven't got around to install it.

The 1st PE pump I ever purchased I installed on my '01 daily driver. It has NEVER missed a beat. I'm not sure how long it's been, but I'd guess 14-18 months . Contrary to popular opinion, I wired it "key hot" via a relay. On 90 degree + days ( a blue moon around here), it does take an extra . 5 or 1 second extra crank time to start. I've since "warranted" several of these pumps with different symptoms. I am suspicious of the intermittent signal sent to the fuel pump from the oem harness. PE FLAT OUT quit selling these pumps for our application when they determined they had a problem. They made a few design changes, did more testing & now feel it's a reliable option for us. PE has been a pleasure to do business with, even under warranty circumstances..... Rip
