Stupid Question

I got my comp installed today:D:D. I didn't hook up the pump wire yet. Here's the problem: when driving, if I change levels, the engine hiccups. Its like it looses fuel for a split second and then its fine. I don't think this is normal. It also seemed to die on me once. I put the hammer down to the floor in 5th gear going about 60MPH @ ~1900RPM, and it just died. I immediately let off the pedal, and somewhere in the next few seconds of slowdown it came alive agian. Does anyone know what might cause this?

Why are you changing levels,if the pump wire is off, turn the sub menu on to level 5,and turn it on,or off,no need to fool with higher levels if the pump wire isnt hooked up. Mine jumpsa littel if iturn it on,off,or jump levels while im driving,I let off, change levels, and get back on it,you dont feel nothing then.

Simple: checking for bugs.

Hiccup is normal

Mine does that hiccup thing, too, if I change positions while I've got my foot on the gas. I don't care for that feeling, so I typically only change levels when I'm idling at a light or something. I have never had it die on me, though, when I jump on it.

My advice to you is hook up that pump wire. It'll give you smiles for miles. When I first got my Comp, I'd drive around in the mellower settings, just enjoying that little bit of giddyup that came with it. But it's never enough, so now that I've figured out how to tune the box to my liking, I almost always drive in level 5/3. Tons of power and the smoke is very controllable, feels like I'm driving a four ton Corvette. Of course, now that's not even enough for me, so it's time to upgrade the clutch and go from there. Sigh...

For anyone interested:

The problems I was having with the Comp were NOT normal. It got progressively worse until the truck would not even get above idle (with your foot on the floor) with the box hooked up. Even with the power off on the Comp, it still wouldn't run right. I called Piers back, and he agreed that there was only one explanation: bad box. So, ten days later my new one arrived, and now I'm back in business and working flawlessly. Oh... while waiting for my new box I ordered an SPA DG211 Boost/EGT guage, **AND** Blue Chip's pump cover... . Time for a clutch!!:D
