PE Comp Problem

During todays lunch run I was showing off for the Phord boys and a problem showed up on the Comp. When I started fiddling with the settings, both the main and sub menu wouldn't light up level 5. 1-4 worked fine. At first I wondered if the LED was burned out. Then, after shutting the box off for several seconds and powering it back on, it came up on 5x5. This problem is repeatable, and when that 5-bar doesn't light up, the level 5 power is definitely not there. I normally run on 5x5 anyway, so I don't know how long ago this might have started.



Anyone else?



Guess I'll call PE and see what they think. Keep you posted...

Wow! 5x5 setting all the time?

You normally run on 5x5?:eek: I thought 5x5 was only for "short bursts"... . Isn't it hard on the engine to have it on 5x5 all the time? :confused: Anyone else wanna chime in here?
 
Mine has been acting up for a month now,it turns itself on,when you restart the truck,I leave it off,restart the truck,and its on,when it turns itself on,you cant change the level of power, it is stuck on that power level,you need to turn it off,then back on,then you can change the power level. Also when it turns itself on,it sometimes doesnt work,you can tell its running on the injectors alone,turn it off,then back on,and the power is there,very weird.
 
Well, that was short and easy. PE tech support said "we'll send you a new one, what's your address?" Thanks and kudos to Edge service!!!



So, while I was at it, I ordered the "hot" Comp as an upgrade. Oh dear...





DEZLPWR - as for 5x5, I've not heard any warnings about running that way. I would expect to have to tone it down when towing for heat/smoke reasons, but other than that, she runs fine.
 
I have the same exact different problem :confused:



My light on level 1 went out. IT's just the light though, and I feel that it is most likely just a loose connection as the light will turn back on at times. There is no difference in performance with the light on or off.



I drive on 5x5 95% of the time. Was the funniest thing,, I was driving along and had just raced a little Honda when I reached down to press the COMP for a higher level, and when I looked down it was allready on 5x5 LOL Maybe there should be a level 6x6 ?? LOL

I drive with my box OFF or on 5x5. Is it bad? I understand I am pushing the VP44 solenoid, but it should last a while since I don't drive WOT 24/7 (just like 22/6 LOL)

I can't run mine on level 5 at all. It takes about 3 seconds for me to peg my EGTs at 1500*. If I run it on 4, it will creep up to 1500* after about 10 seconds. By the way, I did get my DTT stuff installed. Sorry I didn't reply to your PM. Things have been busy. The DTT transmission, DD2s, and COMP box are a great combo.

If my box will come on in 5x5 mode this morning, I'll to a temp run and watch for that. WOT runs on 5x5 mode don't last very long - I always run out of road before I run out of horsepower. I'll take a closer look. I know if I'm really hard on it, the needle is getting up in the red zone.

You may try the BHAF - some have reported that helps with EGTs. I was running one before the Comp/Injectors, so I can't tell if it helped or not.
