I got my kit today from Advanced Diesel. I was wondering if anyone could tell me how the hose on the suction side hooks up to the tank? Which fitting to remove from the top of the tank and how to unhook the old fitting so you can slide the hose in place.

Also how are you wiring the pump? Any suggestions or input would be appreciated. This is the weekend project as my 3 week old lift pump is all but shot.

Thanks in advance.

can't help ya too much on the plumbing, as i used the stock set up and just the PE4200. but on the electrical part, here is what i did. i removed the wiring from the stock pump and attached leads being very careful to observe polarity and weather proofing the connections, then i ran these to a operate the coil of a 30 amp cont. duty relay which in turn sends power thru a couple 12 guage wires to the PE4200. with this setup, the pump runs on the stock parameters when first turning the key on, etc. this has worked flawlessly for me. be sure to fuse the hot wire to the contacts of the relay though!!

To hook up the suction side just remove the stock tubing and replace with the braided tubing. Then use a pipe clamp to attach.

Thats how mines setup although a few have gone directly into the tank. Don't know how though.

PE4200 system is the cats -uugghhh- Butt! yeah ;)

I don't have an answer to either question, but you are going to have good weather finally to do it. If you run into trouble give me a holler I can sure come up and watch you get frustrated er I mean help.

Mactruck, how do you remove the tubing from the fitting. I've tugged and twisted and pulled but can't seem to figure out the trick to getting the stock tubing from the fitting.

Barry, I may have to take you up on that,

Thanks

What type of fitting is it? If it is what I am thinking, I may be able to help you on that. Where is it located on your truck, so I can go out and look at mine to verify.

Sticks, it's on top of the tank where the elect. hook up and the 2 lines are located. One line being suction for pump and other is return from vp44.

what is a PE4200

Ok so I'm new, but what is it, is a ISB aux. fuel pump to supply the lift pump??? or does it get rid of the lift pump. is there a web site to view the details????

To remove the fuel line from the tank, you'll need to push the line towards the fitting, then while keeping pressure on the line, using your other hand squeeze the 2 plastic locks together (they are blue, and are inside the line end), then pull the line off the fitting while keeping the plastic locks together. Thats as easy as I can say it, it is much simpler to do, that to tell you how to do it.

EDIT: RTrenary, the PE4200 replaces the factory lift pump altogether, kiss that sucker good-bye. :D

Rtrernay, it's the fuel pump and system I bought from Advanced Diesel to replace that cheap a$$ stock pump.

Rob, thanks that was what I was looking for. Hopefully I can get it off without dropping the tank.

Yup, those are the ones that I was thinking. My experience has been that they either come off real easy, or not at all because you did not do something right. There is a special tool out there to make the job easier. Looks like a plastic collar. One end slips between the outer fitting and the inner fitting. The other end is big enough to push the locks down if needed to release the lines.

Give me a call @ 303-514-3165 and I can come over & give you a hand.

Pump is on and truck is up and running. Many "Thanks" to Sticks for coming over and helping out. A little knowledge and the right tool goes a long way towards helping. Thanks for educating me about the fuel line fittings.

Mike,

Fuel pump, injectors, HX40, etc. , you have gotten the bug bad. ;) That's good. (And fun)

How fast can that 5th wheel go? I hope it doesn't have one of those 55mph decals on it like the old u-hauls did.

Hey Bob, I will give you a call this week sometime so we can get together. I haven't pulled the 5th wheel yet with this setup. I take it easy when towing so i don't run over some moron. Some people drive like tards and do not realize it takes a little more room to stop when towing. Anyway, I think you will be impressed when I get up to see you. Till then Take care.
