I had to have the DEF pump replaced on my 2015 Ram 3500. The dealer claimed that the DEF fluid was contaminated and smelled like alcohol. They denied the warranty and charged me 2500$ for replacing the pump. I contacted National Center for Dispute Settlement and won my case. Supposed to receive reimbursement from Chrysler but haven't as of yet. They recommended only using Chrysler DEF . I have used Peak BluDef since owning the truck. Has anyone else had problems using BluDef

How about providing more information on what your failure was? A friend recently went through the same type scenario and initially warranty was denied. After some back and forth, the def pump was replaced under the Federal emissions warranty. This only happened because of persistence on his part. This particular unit failed the sender for level indication.

The dealer denied the warranty because he said the fluid was contaminated. I have only used BluDef since owning the truck. The dealer recommended only using MOPAR brand DEF fluid. I was unsuccessful trying to resolve the issue with the dealer and went with arbitration through National Center for Dispute Settlement. They ruled in my favor but haven't received reimbursement from Chrysler yet. I was towing my 5th wheel camper on I4 near Orlando Fl when I got a check engine light then a DEF warning stating I had 75miles to go before I went into creep mode. I found the nearest dealer who diagnosed the DEF pump failure. They charged me 1700$ for the pump and the rest labor and new DEF

So did they tell you what codes were present ?

Def is Def ! Wally world is the same make up only less money . The only reason Peak is popular is because it was first to put it out there. How many DEF manufactures do you think there are ? About like Battery producers just a handful and slap whatever label on them . All DEF has to be made to the same standards . About the only important thing is how old it is .

People have said they have found open/returned containers on the shelves. Possibly used, then refilled with whatever then returned. May be an urban legend for all I know, but I will check for a factory seal when the time comes.

I think I will take a pic of receipt and date code on every box from now on since I have 73k and it seems the DEF issues start taking place a lot after my my mileage.

Not entirely a myth....When buying some Delo oil at wally a few years ago....I found one on the shelf that was nice and clean, but full of waste oil........I always check for seals.
