I had no clue until I looked up the way that the date codes work on that box of DEF. The first 2 numbers are the year made minus 1. So in you case 2018. The next 3 numbers are the day subtracted from 364. So again in your case the 76th day. So when looking for the most recently made DEF, use the most recent year and the lowest 3rd, 4th, & 5th number. Your pick would be the GA19255. I had to look around to find the info -- in the specification for DEF: ISO 22241

The entire issue with DEF having a short life in high heat is just weird. Our tanks, I think take 5 gallons. How long will it be in storage in the vehicle, in a very warm environment until consumed? I read somewhere that the high temp storage only applies to in those plastic containers, not the vented vehicle tank. Under 250 degrees in vehicle tank , the decomposition to ammonia should not be an issue. Always had me confused reading all the info on DEF....

Well pretty darn close, wording counts. First two numbers are year made plus 1. 2018 becomes the 19. The GA19255 box was made on April 20th and I bought it on April 30th. Pretty fast to market.
The GA19289 box was made on March 17th, so I took a pass on that one.
