I know this has been discussed before and I have read the previous threads, but the "Peeling Paint Page" is no longer and I did not download or print the whole thing. My Driftwood is peeling on the roof and bed on the drivers side.

I went down to my local dealer, Larson Dodge of Puyallup, and the service manager looked at it and told me to get three estimates and bring them back and he would take them to the area rep.

Now they say the estimates are "too high" and they are not going to pay $1,500. 00 to get these two sections repainted. They want me to go to "Earl" or one of the other cheepo's and get another estimate.

Now I want to go for repainting the whole truck. Since the paint is "defective" on part it is the same on all.

Any positive suggestions would be appreciated.

Keep us posted. I just spent $1500 getting my green over driftwood `96 redone. Mine didn't peel, but it chalked to the point of rust on the roof.

3 in a row. My Emerald over Driftwood '95 lost a few square feet of roof paint a couple of years ago at the carwash, and I got the top repainted when I had some other bodywork and paint done on the truck. They only charged me $50 extra to sand, shoot and clearcoat the roof. That was over a year ago, and it still looks great.

A web search for Chrysler peeling paint will get you several more recent solution sites than the one that is gone. It seems that the procedure has been greatly simplified now that most every small claims court judge in the country is familiar with the case. You no longer have to prove your case for bad paint, the judges know all about it, it's mostly a matter of deciding the dollar amount.

Don't settle for anything less than a strip down to bare metal and a high quality paint job. Threats to the dealer about going to court will get you nowhere, you have to go the full route, if you do you will surely win. It's just the way DC chooses to play the game, they know that most folks won't go the full route.
