I am closing in on purchasing a 2001 Dodge Ram SLT Quad Cab 6 speed manual 8ft bed with 199k. I have a mechanic looking it over tomorrow as the truck is remote from me. From the pictures, it looks clean and likely original. What would be the typical price for a clean one? It is dealer (not private) sale. I am thinking 13k for the high end?

I have always loved the look of this gen truck - has nice lines to it.

I informed the mechanic to check the fuel pressure as that seems to be a key area of concern as well as the front end. The mechanic's son has a 2006 Ram Diesel so he is familiar with them

That's about right price, sounds like you are a semi-informed buyer and have done some research. NE trucks can have some major rust problems on the brake lines and the sort. So hopefully it is much farther south, or west of PA.

There was a nice 99 listed in the ads recently out of NC, priced around 15k, doing some research it sounded legit and he had complete service records and maintenance. So your decision on if that kind of stuff is worth the premium.

Good components with the NV5600 trans and Dana 80 rear which yields bigger drums or discs if it's a 2001.5. Better braking.
Service records are a plus.

Pricing will vary to your area 13k would be very high end in my area
I bought my 2002 in june this year for 9500.00 with 123000 miles the former owner just installed new Michelin tires all the way around the only problem I've found was the parking break handle busted loose
I alway dicker on vehicle price I've never paid asking price
Good luck with your purchase

Rust. It's a BIG issue here in the northeast.
Check the frame for rust.
13.5 is a little high IMO.
I had mine FS about 3 yrs ago with 130K miles and new rubber.Extremely minimal rust. Same price. Not. One. Bite.
I'm actually glad it didnt sell.

Paid $14.5k for wife's 2001 QCLB (six speed four wheel disc brake) with 96k mileage two years ago and $10k for my 2001 QCLB(built auto, Air Dog, Quadzilla Adrenalline controller, lockers, small lift, larger turbo etc) . Both from dealers; wife's from GM dealer on their used lot and mine from used car/truck dealer. Watched mine sitting on the lot for about six to eight months. Asking prices was $13900, paid $10k.

Rust is not an issue as it is a Florida truck. Mechanic confirmed. If I could get it for 10k I would consider myself lucky. Thanks to everyone for their feedback.

I flew to Portland Oregon in March of 2018 and gave $16,500 for a completely rust free 2001 Ram 2500 extended cab. 189,000 miles.
There wasn't a spec of rust anywhere on this truck. Drove it 30 hrs back and into a "Corrosion free" treatment center and had it rustproofed.
