Hey Blake,

to the best of my knowledge you have to have one to pass. i guess you gotta have a cool mechanic who will let you slide or make it easy to put the muff back on for inspection time.

My inspection mechanic took mine off of my blazer when he was bending my dual 3"

I think it really depends on the inspection mechanic you have. Send him a case of bud and make him your friend:-laf

Thanks guys.

I'm gonna get this new 3" system in all 304 stainless. I might have the guy weld in some flanges so I can take the muffler off and put in a piece of straight pipe. Then I can run it either way.

Take care,

Blake

It great to know we have some members in the area! I live in the paoli area and work in exton. My girlfriend lives up near morgantown, so I am up and down 322 several times a week. I will keeping an eye out for you guys. You shouldnt miss me. I'll be in the silver quad cab 2500 with thick smoke trailing out of both stacks.

PS: Thanks to oasis-3 for all of the stack information. Belive it or not, my girlfriend now loves them, especially when I let her drive!!

Muffler

Blake,, In pa. on a turbo charged diesel you do NOT have to have a muffler to pass inspection. A turbo is a legal muffling device.

They can not fail you for no muffler. Don't know your emissions status out there, but most diesels arn't affected by emmisions yet. the exhaust must exit to the side or rear of the vehicle though. Hope this helps. (i have my pa insp. lisence)

also the local dodge dealer inspected it w/ no questions.

Thanks Proram! That is the information I needed. No emission testing where I am.

Where do you get your truck inspected? Anybody give you any grief for the stacks?

Sure glad we don't have emissions for diesels here in PA.

I'm in West Chester, by the way (East Goshen, actually).

I have my truck registered in deleware as part of our construction company. I just got it inspected a few weeks ago and it rolled right through! Straight piped stacks and all!:D

Rattlebox, I must of missed seeing you. Do you have a tdr sticker on your truck? Mine is hidden behind the right stack!:D

if it matters to you swexlin i live over here in pittsburgh

and i got duals behind the wheels . no muff not cat

igot mine insp. by a dodge dealer. and had no problems

only thought i had was how did he check the brakes? and didnt pull a wheel . i have a 01. 5 dually with the disc all the way around.

Hey Krussel, you'll know me soon, I have a white 1999 sport, quad short bed. I just put a Skyjacker lift kit on this weekend, and dual 6" bull-hauler stacks are going on soon.

swexlin - I work in West Chester. I don't know if you are familiar with the Government Services center on Wesstown Road. That's where I work as a police dispatcher.

They never pulled a wheel on mine either - and mine's a 95 with drums. I know he could look at the pads in the front with a flashlight.

He never pulled a wheel on my wife's Blazer either, but it has 4 discs.

This is one thing I hate about Pa. In Ohio we had NO inspection and no higher accident rate due to mechanical failures.

I work out at McDermotts, so I know where you work. I live in Goshen Valley.

What shop are you having do your stacks?

Rattlebox, Let me know if you need any help with the stacks. I got some of the parts from heavy duty truck parts on route 1, just before maryland, and the rest from class 8 truck parts in new holland. Good luck with them. You will love them! I had a tri-axle pass all sorts of traffic on the highway just to catch up to me and give me the thumbs up :D for thge stacks!

That's awesome ! I picked up 2 catalogs last year from Class 8. Monday i'm gooing over again to see if they have any updated catalogs. Did you put your stacks on yourself ? I Can't imagine them being too diffucult ... .

I used the list that oasis-3 has put together. Do a search under Members for him to get his list of all of the neccesary parts. I did all of the install myself with the help of my friends lift. The only special tool required is a 4 1/2 to 5'' Hole saw. The rest is basically simple. I did fabricate a heat gaurd to keep items rolling around in the bed from catching on fire:D

Oasis-3's parts list also includes walker part numbers and prices. Makes it soo much easier when you go in to order! Good luck!

Hey KRussell and Rattlebox..... do you guys have any info on Class 8 truck parts? I live in coatesville so new holland isn't far. A number or website would be helpful. Thanks

L. J.

I'm not sure what schedule you work, but I'm going up on Monday if you'd like to tag along. If not I can get you a phone # after I stop by on Monday. I'm going up to pick up some catalogs on exhaust parts. :D :D :D
