Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) lift pump voltage?

Today I became a dolt ( OK, maybe earlier). Beginning in the 'big storm' we had this week and progressively worsening, I lost my stomp and romp—could only get 2200 rpm and reduced power before engine sag and blue clouds behind. With fingers crossed it wasn't turbo or injector pump, I found I had let 28K pass under my fuel filter AND this would be filter #2 since ULSD AND I have been routinely running the tank way down before refills. Talk about tempting fate. New filter (had to use Purolator—stealers were out, Cummins NE closed on weekend)— Redline is back, tires spin, max boost returns. Don't do as I did—check your filter before the real cold gets here!

Just another reason to have a fuel pressure gauge. I get Fleetguard filters at the local Peterbilt shop. Cost less than dealer or Cummins or Geno's Garage. So check with a big rig shop to see what brand they have.

Exactly why I want a fuel pressure guage. Filters don't just quit from miles, they quit from crud! Might get a tank out of one, might get many. I have about 30k on mine right now, but a spare in the back seat.

Sorry how cold is it and were you filters plugged with paraphan or contamanints? My factory filter was fine at -33*C the other week. On my 93 I ran my Racor 2 micron at -50*C and it was fine also so tring to figure out what wasnt' working??? Because one filter that was on for 1 and 3/4 years with the driving that I do even then it was very clean and didnt' really need to be changed.
