It's time to replace my air filter and I was looking to upgrade. I need good filtration and I'd like to get more flow (power) to make up what I lost after I mounted 285/75's. Higher egt's are a concern, but not a major one since the engine is stock except for Geno's M. E. kit. I have no plans to upgrade the fuel system. Is there something out there that fits this bill? Any info on this subject is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I have really been impressed by the AFE (Advanced Flow Engineering) filters I have seen. They are similar to the K&N in concept and construction, but appear to me to be built better. Dad has the panel type in his 95 and likes it, I have the cone type waiting on me to get off my duff to install it.

There is nothing wrong with the stock filter, you will exceed 300 RWHP before there is any real benefit in anything "better" IMO. I would also warn you that you should have very low expectations for any power gain to be had by changing the air filter, it just doesn't happen. Even no air filter at all is darn hard to quantify any gain in power or spoolup.

Forgot to add, Rip Rook sells the AFE now as does Tom (Briar Hopper) at Black Mountain Diesel, both are very highly recommended.

I bought the AFE simply because I did not want to shell out $30-35 for another stock filter in 40K miles. The AFE should last the lifetime of the truck.

I don't think you can make a wrong decision with either the BHAF, AFE or a "Scotty" system and K+N Re0880. I've had both the K+N and the BHAF on my truck, both performed well. Never tried the AFE but I will at the next filter change/cleaning.

I agree with LSMITH on the power issue. Amsoil also makes a better filter than K & N ( my opinion ). Do not over oil. Oil can work its way through the intake system and contaminate / coat the IAT & MAP sensors. :D

AFE

AFE megacannon has worked great for me, lower my EGT and sounds good, also have faster spool up. I had a pschotty with K&N re0880 and was also happy with that. :D

CD- is what the one?

If your asking if that is the megacannon the answer is no, the mega is the a whole seperate set up where the stock box is eliminated... ... . you can find it at the same web site under intake systems, although it is called magnumforce. The newer model is a little different than the picture.

Could you tell me what that is! Gosh I looked the AFE site over and I couldn't find an Extream AFE system like yours!:--)

What and where can I get mine:D

Go to universal filters on AFE's site and build it, mine is the biggest one they make with a 5" inlet and it flows 1750+ CFM, dropped EGT's around 150 degrees over the AH19002 with the Twins..... BOTW it was $86. 00 at my front door!

Could not decide what to go with so I replaced with stock filter from dealer ($20 from dealer). Replacement came with foam pre-filter. Problem solved! Turbo spools up much quicker and mid and hi range power is back. I guess 21000 miles is too long for an air filter. Filter minder was showing less than 35%. I'll stick with OEM filter every 10000 miles.
