Has anybody used the K & N Aircharger kit pn: 63-1060 on there truck yet ?

I'll take alot of flames for this but, go to Cummins.com and look of FAQ for Dodge Cummins. Cummins nor Daimler Chrysler recommend them. Then go read very carefully the K&N warranty. They only warrant the filter and state in writing that they will not cover any damages if caused by the filter directly or indirectly. I will not use one for this reason.

AFE and Diesel Dynamics have systems, both using the AFE Proguard7 media that filters as well as OEM, according to their literature. The advantage of the DD air box is that it will work if you later upgrade the turbo.

Thanks Steve & Joe for the info. So it looks like the aFe Proguard 7 is the way to go, filters as good as the OEM but flows more due to more surface area than stock.

Also Joe what would be a safe, user friendly hop-up box to gain that extra edge, but I do not want to go beyond the ( air filter, pipe mods ). I have the high output with stick and 3. 73 R&P.

Is there an Afe pro guard 7 drop in filter or do you have to change the whole box out?

Yes there's a drop in and it works great. You'll feel a big difference.

If you or anybody else are located anywhere near me I'll let you try the extra one I've got.

We have been bending AFE's ears for a while to come up with a filtration system that won't let all the dirt thru and they finally did it! In the past I have been very unfriendly to the gauze filters due to the fact they let a lot of dirt into the intake stream on a diesel. The average diesel willl use ten (10) times the air (CFM) as a comparable gas engine, plus you have a turbo creating suction as opposed to barometric pressure on a gas engine bring in the air. So with 10 times the air you get ten times the dirt, if the filter isn't made to stop it. Due to AFE building the Pro Guard 7 line we have ordered their entire Pro Guard 7 line and stock it for the diesel exclusively. Their testing shows they are meeting the OEM paper filter dirt stopping criteria etc.



Anyway that's what we do and feel if it helps you.

I am in Southern Oregon but I dont expect you to send it here. Do you have the number and place where you bought it? Is it the pro guard 7. What did you honestly notice with the replacement?
