Engine/Transmission (1998.5 - 2002) performance box ??? s

I am kind of new to diesel performance and my truck has a previously installed

van aaken box installed under the hood . one pigtail plugs into the vp and the other plugs into the plug that was plugged into the vp. What im wondering is can an edge comp box be used in conjunction with this setup or do I need to

disconnect the one to use the other and will it cause any problems that anyone can foresee the van akken box I have is like an older version of the smartbox,Thanks for any info in advance

I would recomend removing the VA box and just running the comp.

I would tend to agree with the previous post. Someone will probably correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the Van Aaken box adjusts timing and that sort of thing for power without adding more fuel by tapping the pump wire. With the comp, you get the benefits of altered timing as well as the ability to tap the pump wire.



You might be able to stack them depending on how they connect to your truck's wiring harness (but my intuition says you can't). Even if you can, a timing box on top of a timing box will just produce too much of this sort of alteration (sort of a too much of a good thing type deal).

I've heard that a lot of people have great success stacking the smarty with something like a Blue Chip FMS or a TST box. I personally run with Edge Drag comp and have done pretty well with that. I know what has worked for me but I wouldn't mind trying something different myself. Let me know if you're interested in getting an Edge box.

Stacked boxes?

I have been wondering the same thing. I have a van Aaken on my 2000 and wondering if it can be used with a Superchips Programmer, or if I should disconnet the van Aaken and just run the programmer. Any thoughts, experiences?
