The thing that has always impressed me with the new Challenger is the ease of entry and exit. Could not believe it the first time that I got into one.
They say the doors (old/new) are almost identical size wise.

I forgot all about this thread. Talked to my friend last week. He picked up a partially restored '67 Barracuda with a 383 at the last auction if anyone's interested.
A real deal Formula S?
Do you have any details?
I THINK this is the car:

If it is, I was wrong on the engine. It's a 318, not a 383. Must have been one of those "Freudian slips". I will find out for sure from David.
If you're not keeping the original motor I will say I'm a big fan of GM crate engines. Tremendous value for the money. That would be a fun ride with a mild 502 in it.
Let me twist this thread back the other direction for a moment. I was speaking to a friend of mine this morning who is a long time owner of a really nice 1967 Chevelle. Factory 327 4-speed, 4.56 gears, factory center console. It is not #s matching and not a SS car.
He is interested in potentially selling it. It is not currently running. 327 was rebuilt 20+ years ago with 80's technology and parts. It needs a rear seal an a fuel pump. His plan is to get it running and list it for $18K.
In our conversation this morning, I said that I'm not even interested in that 327 and would just pull it anyway if I bought it. He had some interest in keeping the engine and possibly trans as a project. We didn't talk specifics, but what would be considered a fair offer on that car as a roller? I want to be prepared with a # in mind when I see him tomorrow.
Unless you plan on trailering the car to the drag strip, that rear end will be the first thing you'll be replacing.
IIRC those box Chevelles had frame rot issues around the steering box to chassis riser area. Look for repairs or worse.
