PETA strikes again

Was reading in a farm magazine today that Washington state voters banned the trapping of all mammals, this includes gophers and mice! Apparently it's being enforced. Poison is still ok but some growers have found a new alternative, they use a probe to inject a mix of propane and oxygen into the tunnel system, the probe has a sparker on the end that ignites the fuel killing the gopher and causing the entire tunnel system to collapse with a big boom.

Cool, this way it just kills them, and then buries them too!

These things are cool!

One of my customers bought one of these things. It sounds pretty cool, but when you see it in action it's very cool! Only bad thing is, if you put a little to much oxy/gas mix it blows the sod sky high around the holes. . But still just as cool.

PETA

Years ago Peta went to a dog show to "free" those mistreated animals, they came in numbers and released many dogs, most were recovered many got hit by cars or ran from the chaos never to be found.



These people are on a mission of making money and nothing more. A small group with influence due in part to some Hollywood A-holes in their support.

Dog gone

We used to have an outfit in Colo called "Dog Gone" . They had a big vac truck and would suck the little buggers out of their holes. Then they would sell them in Japan. I guess they are quite popular in Japan and fetch over a thousand apeice!



Like all bandwagons people take it a little too far and Peta has done it again. I am sure they have done some good here and there. However they have too much time on their hands now and tend to leap before they think.



People tend to take everything to the limit and vote on emotion. In Colo they voted to end the spring bear hunt. Now the bears are starving to death and are getting into every trash can in Colo. Even have seen them raiding bee hives way out in the plains.

One day in my favorite shotgun reloading supply shop I saw an enhanced version of the machine you are talking about. It was a cartoon drawing of a machine that not only sucked them out of the hole, but one guy stood on top and worked a big lever. The fellow to the side held a shotgun and yelled, "PULL!", whereupon the prarie dog was flung like a clay pidgeon and... well... you get the idea.



I bet they didn't cut that cartoon out of the Boulder Daily Camera.
